"Shred Monochrome" is pretty much my signature edit. Ideal for creating crisp, clean images that will level up your Instagram game.
So there are actually a number of considerations when going for this signature "clean image" look.
How to achieve a “not sh*t” monochrome theme:
- Location
Industrial, Concrete, Grey/white/glass, avoid red brickwork/trees/grass/sea/sand. Minimalist as possible, trying to make a busy background monochrome looks horribly unnatty.
- Lighting
Backlit - easier to wash out background without destroying subject. Artificial lighting - avoid really orange/yellow lights as will mess with skin colour too much during editing process.
- Outfit choice
Similar to location wearing monochrome colours will make life infinitely easier. Other colours can be worn but oranges/yellows will make editing skin tone a lot harder.
- Selfies
This edit works wonders on selfies. Most changing rooms/gym mirrors etc are well lit and have white back drops. Using this edit will allow you to level up your mirror pic game to the point that you'll see every reflective surface as an opportunity for an edgy shot.
As with all of my coaching packages I will be on hand to help with any lightroom related queries to those who have purchased products, just drop me a note!
